In Copper Country übernimmt jeder Spieler die Rolle eines Bergbauunternehmens im Amerika des frühen 19. Jahrhunderts. Sie müssen Kupfer abbauen und verarbeiten, solange es möglich ist, und dabei die Bergleute optimal einsetzen und die Risiken des Betriebs managen. Am Ende des Spiels wird derjenige, der das meiste Kupfer abgebaut hat, zum Sieger erklärt.
