Eine Partie wird 1 gegen 1 oder in Teams von 2 gegen 2 oder 3 gegen 3 gespielt. Die Kitsune sind in 2 Clans aufgeteilt: Zenko (blaue Karten) und Yako (orange Karten). Zu Beginn erhältst du einen Clan, musst aber mit Karten beider Clans spielen, um zu gewinnen. Eine Runde besteht aus mehreren Stichen. Am Ende jedes Stichs vergleicht man den Gesamtwert der orangen Kitsu-Karten mit den blauen. Der Clan mit dem höheren Wert rückt auf der Weisheitsskala um die Differenz vor. Ist die Differenz größer als 4, erhält das verlierende Team ein Machtplättchen. Das Spiel endet, wenn ein Clan zwei Runden gewinnt.
