Description Description

You only live once, but
if you live it the right way,
once is enough.

Eshaton. That is what they call the end of the world. The day fire rained from the heavens, burning the earth and the people who lived upon it. The planet trembled, groaning in pain like a feverish body in agony. Though Earth survived, it was changed forever.
When the Eshaton struck and the Dwellers of the Past perished, ten thousand years of culture were lost. People survived by scavenging whatever they could find and fighting for food and clean water. With empty eyes, the survivors stared at the wrecks of their ancestors’ vehicles, wandering aimlessly through the ruins of a once‑magnificent civilization. A civilization they had shed long ago as if it were nothing, accepting it as a natural change, like a snake shedding its skin. Like children freed from morality and ethics, they lifted their naïve gaze upon a devastated world, a landscape tortured by the elements, toxic zones now impossible to enter. They knew only that they had to resist this new environment, or be overwhelmed by it.

The Two Tomes
The first volume, Primal Punk (352 pages), contains the setting alone. It presents the event that triggered the cataclysm in 2073 and describes the state of the world at the time in which the game is set, around the year 2595. It recounts the apocalypse that wiped known civilization from the planet in almost a single day, as well as the drastic climate changes that made the few remaining habitable lands even more hostile. Players are called to live and struggle on an entirely new continent, a fusion of Europe and North Africa, featuring a new morphology, new cultures, new cults, and new threats.

The second volume, KatharSys (352 pages), presents the game system and mechanics, including Action Number and Trigger, character creation with Concept and Background, Ranks and Potentials for each individual Cult, and the procedures for gaining Experience Points. It explains how combat works (including vehicle combat) and the many, many ways to die. A very extensive section is dedicated to equipment and everything related to trade in the world. A substantial portion is necessarily devoted to Sepsis and the spores, as well as their tradeable form: Burn. The book also contains a special bestiary featuring not only potentially lethal fauna altered by the spore, but also Psychonauts with various power levels and a wide range of Primer‑given abilities, human antagonists, and aberrations. The volume concludes with a Game Master section to support campaign creation, offering tips, advice, secrets, and an introductory adventure.

I due tomi non sono separabili, per precisa scelta dell’editore originale, e costituiscono insieme la forma e la sostanza del GdR.
