In a decaying world, a floating castle is humanity's last refuge. The land teems with plague-mutated beasts, while Welkin Castle is quarantined from the horrors below.
Lucien, a charismatic politician sheltered within the castle walls, discovers an ancient book revealing the Exemplars, weapons that can transform into sentient soldiers. He joins forces with Rowena, a revenant determined to find a way to return to life to raise her living son, and reluctantly they make a pact to overthrow the mad tyrant controlling Welkin.
