Pagan: Schicksal von Roanoke by Kasper Christiansen and Kåre Storgaard is a social-deduction living card game set in colonial America in the year 1587. The core of the asymmetric game is the battle between the witch and the witch hunter. While the witch seeks to perform a ritual, the hunter tries to uncover her true identity. The two players draw from variable card decks of 50 cards each and various resources to defeat the other side. Many different tactics and strategies are possible and necessary to succeed in this competitive battle of powers. Embedded in the dark graphics by illustrator Maren Gutt, the fictional story of the lost colony on Roanoke Island comes to life. The first expansion - Pagan: Schicksal von Roanoke - Jenseits der Palisaden - deals with the fact that the colony was plagued by problems from the very beginning. Even without the disturbing witchcraft within the village, settling the new frontier has proven remarkably difficult. Nevertheless, the colony must turn its attention to the wild land beyond the palisades. Their resources are key to survival. Although it is teeming with wild animals and rich in resources, the surrounding swamp is shrouded in a constant fog. Attempts to expand livestock have failed. The cattle are weak, the milk is sour, and the eggs are laid in various shades of green. Is the witchcraft in the small community merely a symptom of a larger, unnatural phenomenon? Can the land be cleansed to transform the colony into a thriving colonial outpost?
