Panzer Grenadier Black Panthers

The segregated, African-American 761st `Black Panthers` Tank Battalion racked up an impressive war record in 183 days of combat in France, Belgium, and Germany. We tell the story of their fight against the Nazi`s, and of their fight against the vile Jim Crow racism they faced in their own country. It`s the story of Sgt. Ruben Rivers, Medal of Honor winner, killed in action in November 1944 fighting his tank against insurmountable odds despite repeated wounds. It`s the story of Capt. Jackie Robinson, court-martialed for his refusal to sit in the back of a U.S. Army bus. And it`s the story of the author`s grandfather, liberated from the Gunskirchen concentration camp in May 1945 by Black soldiers of the 761st Tank Battalion.
