CE JEU EST UNE RÉINTERPRÉTATION D'AGE OF EMPIRES III. Age of Empires III (2007, Tropical Games) est l'un des premiers et l'un des meilleurs jeux de plateau de placement d'ouvriers de tous les temps. Il n'est plus imprimé depuis 7 ans, ce qui a poussé de nombreux fans et critiques à demander une nouvelle réimpression du jeu. Lorsque les droits du jeu ont été achetés par Eagle Games, le coût du renouvellement de la licence du nom auprès de Microsoft s'est avéré trop élevé, donc le jeu a été rebaptisé Glenn Drover's Empires: Age of Discovery (EAOD), mais n'a jamais été réimprimé. Début 2014, Eagle Games a demandé des bénévoles de la communauté BGG, qui admiraient vraiment le jeu et qui y avaient joué de nombreuses fois, pour travailler avec le designer, Glenn Drover, et le PDG d'Eagle Games, Rick Soued, afin d'imaginer à quoi pourrait ressembler une nouvelle version Deluxe d'AoE III et de les aider à la mettre en œuvre. Après près d'un an de travail, culminant le mois dernier avec le NOUVEAU livret de règles, ce processus de vision a été achevé. Empires: Age of Discovery, conçu par Glenn Drover, vous permet de revisiter l'âge de l'exploration et de la découverte. Prenez le rôle d'une puissance coloniale à la recherche de gloire, de renommée et de richesses dans le Nouveau Monde. Au fur et à mesure que vous progressez à travers trois âges, vous lancerez des expéditions de découverte, coloniserez des régions, développerez votre flotte marchande, construirez des bâtiments capitaux qui donneront à votre nation des avantages distincts, développerez votre économie et, si nécessaire, déclarerez la guerre. REMARQUE : Cette Édition Deluxe comprend l'extension Empires: Builder ainsi que ses bâtiments capitaux. Ses tuiles d'Avantage National ont été intégrées dans les nouveaux Plateaux de Joueur.
