They struck with the ferocity of a storm on the open prairie. Once a relatively weak tribe dwelling at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. Until they acquired horses. And so it happened that, seemingly out of nowhere, they emerged as an unstoppable force, the greatest light cavalry ever seen in the Western Hemisphere. They called themselves Numunuu, "the people." Their Ute cousins called them Kumantsi, "someone who always wants to fight me." The Spanish called them "Comanche." Between 1700 and 1800 these "lords of the southern plains" carved out a vast empire stretching from present-day Kansas to the Rio Grande, and from the foothills of the Colorado and New Mexico Rockies to eastern Texas. For a century and a half, the Comanche played one colonial power against another, collected tributes, and dominated trade over a large portion of North America known as "Comanchería."
The Game
Comanchería – The Rise and Fall of the Comanche Empire is the second game designed by Joel Toppen, telling the story of the First Nations peoples of North America. Like Navajo Wars, Comanchería is a SOLO game where the player takes on the Numunuu, the Comanche people. Using mechanics similar to Navajo Wars, Comanchería challenges the player to conquer and control the southern plains of North America. It won't be easy! Aggressive northern tribes like the Osage, Pawnee, Cheyenne, and Arapaho will challenge your dominance.
