Description Description

If there is one ship every naval wargame enthusiast knows, it is the German battleship Bismarck. Forty thousand tons of threat unleashed in the North Atlantic in the spring of 1941 to sow chaos among Allied shipping. The British Home Fleet tried to stop her, but Bismarck's guns tore apart the battlecruiser Hood. The pride of the Royal Navy ended up on the bottom of the Denmark Strait, southwest of Iceland, and Bismarck disappeared into the fog. But HMS Prince of Wales managed to hit Bismarck below the waterline, leaving a trail of oil. The British Home Fleet relentlessly pursued the German warship, which eventually sank under a hail of gunfire. Bismarck: Commerce Raiding in the North Atlantic covers the famous hunt for Bismarck, but also all other German commerce raids in the Atlantic between autumn 1939 and summer 1941. It includes sorties of the battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau, raids by the cruisers Admiral Hipper and Scheer, and much more. Like all games in the series, this one is rich in scenarios. The German player tries to slip unnoticed through British patrol lines to seek and destroy vital convoys carrying troops, food, and supplies from around the world to Great Britain. The British player has significantly superior forces, but the Atlantic is a vast place. There is a lot of open ocean where a German raider can hide. When more than one is at large, the Royal Navy's task becomes even more difficult.
