On October 6, 1973, Arab forces from Syria and Egypt attacked Israel. The attack took place on the holiest day for Jews, aiming to catch the Israelis as unprepared as possible. Initially, it was a huge success. Syrian forces advanced through the weak and scattered forces on the Golan Heights, while Egyptian forces easily crossed the large Suez Canal and established a solid defensive line along the eastern bank of the Canal and, under the strong protection of their surface-to-air missile umbrella, awaited the inevitable Israeli counterattack. And the Israelis counterattacked, only to be shocked by the effectiveness of the new Soviet weapons and the surprising Arab determination. The battle took unexpected turns until the Israelis finally found answers to the new Arab army technology and repelled the challenge, even attacking in Syria and Egypt in the final phases of the battle. But both sides could claim victory in this war. The Israelis were still masters of the battlefield, but their throne was more unstable than ever. The Arabs had shown they could defeat the Israelis in open battle and were now a force to be recognized and respected. The war had changed everything in the region. Test of Faith is a new game in the Operational Scale Series that uses the new additional rules of the Doomsday Project to represent this war in a way never seen before. Highly playable but with an emphasis on command and equipment, OSS use
