W wersji dla 2 graczy jeden gracz kontroluje Spartan, a drugi gracz kontroluje Persów. W grze dla 3 graczy 2 graczy rywalizuje o największą Chwałę jako Spartanie, a w grze dla 4 graczy 2 graczy również rywalizuje jako Persowie o największą liczbę zabitych Spartan. Na początku gry siły bitewne (reprezentowane przez okrągłe jednostki tekturowe) są już ustawione i gotowe do walki na granicy Gorących Wrót. Za każdym razem, gdy jednostka perska umiera, Spartanie zdobywają Punkty Chwały na Torze Chwały, który otacza planszę. Jednostki spartańskie umierają na stałe, podczas gdy większość pokonanych jednostek perskich może ponownie wejść do gry jako posiłki.
