Dead Last — pierwotnie znany jako Tontine — to gra "społecznej koluzji" z zmieniającymi się sojuszami, zdradami i morderstwami dla zysku, w której gracze muszą spiskować i głosować, kogo zabić w każdej rundzie. Dozwolone są wszelkie środki jawnej lub ukrytej komunikacji — spojrzenie, skinienie głowy, wskazywanie pod stołem, miganie kartą, cokolwiek — ale upewnij się, że nie zdradzasz celu, bo może cię w zamian zasadzić! Na koniec pozostanie jeden lub dwóch graczy, którzy albo zdobędą cały złoto, albo staną do ostatecznej konfrontacji przed rozpoczęciem następnej rundy gry. Pierwszy gracz, który zdobędzie 24 punkty złota, wygrywa. Tematycznie inspiracją dla gry jest jeden z najstarszych tropów fikcji pulp/ powieści detektywistycznej: Tontina, inwestycja finansowa, która się kumuluje, ale wypłaca tylko ostatniemu żyjącemu członkowi grupy. Ta praktyka jest teraz w dużej mierze nielegalna, ponieważ miała tendencję do prowadzenia do morderstw. Ale to subtelna sztuka komunikacji dostarcza zabawy w grze i spiskujesz ze sobą. Jeśli jesteś celem największej liczby głosów, jesteś martwy, a jeśli nie sprzymierzyłeś się z popularnym głosowaniem, również jesteś martwy, więc musisz nieustannie być na bieżąco lub oszukiwać swój cel, aby zjednoczyć się, nie dając mu znać.
