The top of the class, between reality and fantasy, told with a pen. Heroes, bosses, number ones: different names to indicate people, or perhaps things, different. The characters of the book - whether they really existed or were mainly invented - all number ones in their own way, are daily companions, metaphors that help us decode the present and make it bearable, points of reference for memory or simply crutches for the imagination, for recalling stories already heard or for creating stories that we could hang on to them. Companions on the road to lean on when tired or disappointed by so-called 'normal' people. After all, if we really didn't need them anymore, we would have already killed or forgotten them, buried in the pages of a book, in the coils of a film or on the most secret shelf of memory. Remembering them with rhymes, one for each, followed by a brief erudite note, the author has lined them up in alphabetical order, as in the list of classmates in the teacher's register: Alice is the cute one in the front row, Superman flies along the corridors, Robin Hood steals snacks from lunchboxes, Napoleon is in detention behind the blackboard and Pierino... well Pierino is the usual Pierino. A sequel to 'Passione, ventidue grandi storie d’amore', a close-knit team of well-known and appreciated Italian cartoonists (22 to be exact) collaborated in the making of the book, enthusiastically enriching each chapter of the book with a series of humorous illustrations created ad hoc. The final result is an original work to read, but also to look at.
