Description Description

Szczekociny 1794 depicts one of the battles from Kościuszko Uprising, an important event in Polish history. This particular battle historically was a Polish defeat suffered from allied armies of Russia and Prussia, but players can now recreate this conflict to see if the different outcome would be also possible. Szczekociny 1794 is a hex and counter wargame with a chit-pull mechanic of activating specific parts of players army. Game turn consists therefore of movement, ranged and close combat - but sequence of activations isn't guaranteed. There are three main types of units available: infantry, cavalry and artillery but they are divided even further, so, for example, players can find in the game grenadiers, Russian Cossack cavalry and Polish irregular infantry armed with scythes, "kosynierzy". The game comes with one introductory scenario, showing a preliminary fight for a village of Wywła, and a scenario for main battle. The victory is decided by victory points, which themselves can be gained by elimination of enemy units, capturing enemy artillery or killing enemy leaders. Szczekociny 1794 shares the rules of "Raclawice 1794" but due to the fact that bigger forces were involved in the battle of Szczekociny some rules of the game were simplified, for example conditions of withdrawal and victory. Szczekociny 1794 is an independent and complete game and the knowledge or the game "Raclawice 1794" is not required.
