VINCA was born out of the wish to express a dull pain I have felt. The final shape of this expression was a “roleplaying game”, maybe because it’s the only kind of medium I feel like I’m able to create. Vinca is a rules-light storytelling RPG designed to play oneshots. It starts out GM-less, but there’s a change of style midway through. To experience it as designed, it’s important to have a Facilitator who has read the work in its entirety. There are Safety Mechanics, but the game is meant to hit hard and hurt a little. If you’re not okay with this or feel unsure about playing a game that stings, it’s okay to do something else. I hope that you’ll like this game, but regardless of that I hope it can be a seed for reflection in the same way that visiting Vinca was for me.
